PUNARJANI : A DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN

A PROJECT FOR FLOOD REHABILITATION UNDER NETAJI VAYANASALA

Here is an abstract of the PUNARJANI, a disaster recovery plan which could be applicable for the flood effected areas and houses in Konikkara, Ward-I, Thrikkur Grama Panchayath, Thrissur. We aim at recovering the flood related areas/families of the village by providing the basic requirements to sustain their life and living. Even though we know that it is not an easy task, it is our responsibility to do something to reconstruct our society. Let’s UNITE and REBUILD.

What PUNARJANI aim at?

• To provide a rehabilitation assistance to those people who are effected of floods in Konikkara.
• Take data collection by doing a survey and trying to provide the essentials to the needy ones in priority.
• Try to provide the basic needs to make their life better during rehabilitation.
• It may include food, plates, utensils, medicines, study materials, professional rehabilitation, house repairing, electrical/plumbing works, aid for specially challenged persons etc.
• At least we may help them in identifying what all documents they have lost and how to retrieve it. Or help them to get it or guide them.

How to execute PUNARJANI?

• Create of group of vibrant and passionate volunteers for data collection.
• Prioritize the requirements of each families and make a plan on how to help them.
• Provide emotional, material and financial assistance from Puranjani by informing/sharing the prioritized requirements of victims, based on the data we have gathered and extend assistance from helping hands from unaffected villagers, pravasis and external well-wishers.
